The UK Shipbuilding Skills Taskforce (UKSST) invites you to its first engagement event at the University of Southampton’s Boldrewood Innovation Campus on Friday 14 July.
The event will bring together representatives from across the shipbuilding industry and key education providers, in order to share early insight of the UKSST’s recommendations for industry, education, and government, before the Taskforce formally launches its report during London International Shipping Week in September.
The UKSST was set up following the National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh in 2022. It is made up of representatives from industry across the UK, including employers from both SMEs and larger shipyards, education providers from further and higher education, and representation from trade unions. The UKSST has drafted a future-focused skills strategy for the shipbuilding sector, which includes a set of recommendations targeted at industry, government, and education, with the goal of addressing skills shortages faced by shipbuilding. A key focus for the Taskforce is now engaging industry and educators on its recommendations to start implementing its vision for the future of the sector.
Your attendance at this event will support the industry in its collaborative efforts to build a strong pipeline of skilled workers.
