Maritime UK Solent has announced its first five sponsors of the prestigious Maritime UK Solent Awards 2023 – and it’s not too late to get involved in sponsoring an award.
Associated British Ports will be sponsoring the Net Zero Navigator award, Datum Electronics will be sponsoring the Clean Maritime Innovator award, Vulcan Offshore is sponsoring the Awards brochure, and DP World and CNS are jointly sponsoring the Global Trade category.
Maritime UK (MUK) Solent strongly encourages interested organisations to get in touch as soon as possible to secure sponsorship. Its first ever awards evening last year was a huge success and secured positive traction for sponsors and finalists across social media channels and shone a bright light on the maritime sector in the Solent. Supporting the Awards is an opportunity to showcase your organisation while celebrating the Solent’s world-class maritime cluster.
The annual MUK Solent Awards, taking place on 5 October at the amazing setting of Boathouse 7 within Portsmouth’s historic dockyard, celebrates the remarkable achievements and raises the profile of the thriving maritime sector.
Stuart Baker, Managing Director of MUK Solent, said: “We are delighted to welcome the first five sponsors for this regional celebration of our fantastic maritime sector.
“Three of the companies were involved in the inaugural MUK Solent Awards event last year and they were motivated by its success, and the engagement they received, to sponsor an award this year.
“Becoming a sponsor of these awards puts businesses and organisations in the spotlight, both at the event and afterwards, with excellent media coverage and social media engagement, along with other networking opportunities.
“It is a unique and impactful opportunity for sponsors to showcase their own business and highlights their commitment to the outstanding success of the Solent’s world-class maritime sector. If you are interested in finding out more about sponsorship, please contact us.”
Vulcan Offshore Ltd, which won Start-up of the Year at the 2022 MUK Solent Awards, is sponsoring the Awards brochure this year. Managing Director Chris Scrutton will also join this year’s judging panel of internationally recognised maritime leaders.
He said: “We are delighted to be supporting the MUK Solent Awards as we know, from winning an award at last year’s event, that it is a huge recognition of success in the region’s maritime sector.
“Our involvement last year with MUK Solent has helped with our social media engagement rate. It gave us a huge advantage from a networking perspective; it opens the door to local authorities and other organisations, such as the National Oceanography Centre and universities, and makes you aware of apprenticeship and training opportunities.
“Vulcan specialises in welding and fabricating high quality products for the offshore, marine, subsea, and manufacturing industries and we are proud to be associated with these awards.”
Datum Electronics will be sponsoring the Clean Maritime Innovator Award this year after its success winning two awards at last year’s event – as Employee of the Year and for Innovation.
The Isle of Wight company is a world-leading manufacturer of rotary torque sensors, transducers, and shaft power measurement solutions in the marine industry. With headquarters in East Cowes, it operates in 30 countries and is using its technology to drive sustainability efforts across the marine sector.
Managing Director, James Lees, said: “After our success as double award winners at the 2022 MUK Solent Awards, we decided to sponsor the Clean Maritime Innovator Award this year.
“We recognised the importance of supporting new technologies or innovations that will make a real impact in the transition to zero emissions in the maritime sector and this category was perfect.
“Datum Electronics is looking forward to the awards evening and the benefits our company will enjoy as a result of our participation.”
Associated British Ports (ABP) will sponsor an award again this year. Last year, it sponsored the Future Skills category and this year, it is a sponsor for the Net Zero Navigator Award at the event.
ABP Southampton operates the Port of Southampton – the UK’s number one vehicle handling port, a leading turnaround cruise port and home to the UK’s second largest container terminal.
Alastair Welch, ABP Southampton’s Regional Director, said: “We are proud to be part of the MUK Solent Awards again after sponsoring an award last year. As one of the largest maritime employers on the South Coast, we are thrilled to be celebrating the region’s contribution to the maritime sector.
“Earlier this year, we launched our sustainability strategy – Ready for Tomorrow – so it is only fitting that we sponsor the Net Zero Navigator Award as we continue to embark on our journey to achieve net zero in our operations by 2040.”
MUK Solent are also happy to welcome DP World and CNS (Community Network Services Ltd) as new sponsors of the awards this year.
