Ellie Toya, environment and sustainability coordinator: “I think it’s a huge testament to the absolute determination and hard work of what is really quite a small workforce that we have at the port.

“I think that we are extremely ambitious, we’re extremely determined, we punch way above our weight when it comes to these sorts of activities, and it’s just lovely to have a recognition in the Solent region that appreciates the work and the effort that our team put into what is a daily activity for us.

“In the next 18 months, we will be able to offer shore power to both cruise and ferry vessels, and we will be able to simultaneously charge those vessels – among other hugely impressive technological efforts from our project partners.”
