CATEGORIES TO SPONSOR

Apprentice or Cadet of the Year

Nominations for this Award are made by employers for apprentices or cadets who have made a positive impact on their organisation. This category is for all apprentices or cadets employed in the maritime sector, regardless of which apprenticeship or cadetship pathway they are following, and does not have to be a traditional marine or maritime framework.

Diversity sponsor Royal Navy

This is an award for an organisation within the Solent’s maritime sector, that has demonstrated itself to be a changemaker in the realm of diversity. They will evidence an ethos that embraces diversity, through its operational, daily approach, its strategic direction, and its policies. This is your opportunity to showcase the work you are doing for a diverse workforce.

Future Skills sponsor South Hampshire College Group

This award recognises those that have made a tangible contribution to meeting the future skills needs of the Solent’s maritime sector. The winner will be delivering pioneering staff development or educational course activity to help match available skills to the emerging and future requirements of the sector. Applicants may be businesses or education providers.

Global Trade sponsor Womble Bond Dickinson

This is an award for a Solent-based maritime business or organisation, that is actively involved in international trade and who have significantly increased import/export activity or attracted Foreign Direct Investment over the past two years.

International Partnership of the Year

This is an award for a maritime business or organisation located in the Solent that has established a new relationship over the past two years with a business or organisation outside of the UK that is creating or will create new income, new orders, or advance knowledge. For example, this could be a new supplier, buyer, or knowledge / research relationship.

Large Business of the Year

This award is open to maritime businesses based in the Solent that have over 250 employees. This is your opportunity to showcase how great your small business is and what you have achieved over the past few years. You may have grown rapidly, pivoted your operation to safeguard your future or explore an opportunity, invested in workforce development, improved sustainability, or secured key new contracts. Tell us your story. Applications that can strengthen their story with numbers (e.g. new job, turnover growth) will be favoured.

Maritime Legacy sponsor Solent Stevedores

It is expected that applications will nominate an individual rather than self-apply. This will be awarded to an individual who has made a significant impact to the strength of the Solent Maritime Sector, leaving a legacy. For example, this may include one or more of the following: Supported young people and apprentices; Been an ambassador for the Solent’s maritime sector; shown leadership in the sector; been critical to the growth or a Solent-based maritime business; provided strong leadership to a maritime organisation; innovated; led new research that has moved knowledge forward.

Net Zero Navigator sponsor ABP

This is an award for a port, marina, shipowner, or shipbuilder, who is wholly committed to moving their Solent-based operations towards zero emissions. In the past year, they will have taken action or have committed to a programme of activities that will deliver a reduction in carbon emissions.

Small Business of the Year sponsor BAE Systems

This award is open to maritime businesses based in the Solent that have up to 50 employees. This is your opportunity to showcase how great your small business is and what you have achieved over the past few years. You may have grown rapidly, pivoted your operation to safeguard your future or explore an opportunity, invested in workforce development, improved sustainability, or secured key new contracts. Tell us your story. Applications that can strengthen their story with numbers (e.g. new job, turnover growth) will be favoured.

Start-up of the Year

Applicants for this award will have started to trade no earlier than three years from the date of entry, will be ‘independently owned’, and are a maritime business, or in the supply chain, and based in the Solent. Applicants that can evidence rapid growth and / or innovation will be favoured.

Sustainability Leadership sponsor University of Southampton

The Sustainability Leadership category is open to individuals or organisations that can demonstrate the type of leadership that drives solutions for environmental, social and economic challenges in maritime. It recognises leadership as a process of influence and action and breaks down silos to combine efforts towards change and transformation.

Technology Game Changer sponsor Red Funnel

This is an award for a maritime business or organisation who are leading the way in new technology that will be ‘game-changing’ in the maritime sector. This will be through embracing new technologies to create new products, processes or practises. Applications that can demonstrate the use of novel technologies to respond to industry challenges will be favoured.

Sponsors of the Award categories will receive

Before the evening of the Awards:

  • Announcement as a Category Sponsor on Maritime UK Solent’s social media channels, in related press releases, and in the regular Maritime UK Solent e-newsletter to almost 1,000 network members

Sponsors of the Award categories will receive

On the evening of the Awards:

Sponsors of the Award categories will receive

After the evening of the Awards:
